I hope everyone had a decent Halloween. I stayed close to home as the neighbors had a special Tick Talk Radio Shop on a Friday evening and then a party that I thought was pretty awesome but I suppose got a little out of control. I must've missed that portion. Anyways. Happy Belated Halloween to all. I woke up and did a surprise clean up for the neighbors in the guise of "The Ghost of The Purple Barn". It would make sense if you were here...
I'll be getting breakfast shortly and then shipping off some paintings, building some stretchers and working on some personal pieces for the show next month. I'm basically gonna try to be as productive as possible today though I know I may have to take some "breakies" throughout. Be on the lookout for some new stuff up on the site soon.
Happy Saturday All.

To my displeasure, my car would not turn over after I left the bank. My car is dead in the water right now and I need that thing to get to and from Wilsonville to put food on the table and gasoline in it. I had it towed (74 Dollars) to Pacific Car Care and they'll be diagnosing it tomorrow morning (85 Dollars) and then hopefully having it fixed (???? Dollars). Anyways. I'm in good spirits about it. After having a somewhat sad (for me) talk about my lack of 'friends' out here on the west coast with Beckah I was rescued by her on her way home from work. That was a reassuring gesture for her and I greatly appreciate it. Before that though I was hold up in the parking lot hoping that a jump was all I need. The first fellow I asked who drove a fancy car copped out by saying he didn't know where his battery was (WTF). While I asked him a woman overheard and quickly came to my hopeful rescue but no deal on the battery hence the towing...either way, thank you lady I don't know from Jane. I got home, thanks again Beckah, and took Nolte for a walk. I saw Jeffrey playing music on the street. He's pleasant. We talked for a second and he wished me good luck with my car, good luck indeed. Later on the walk I was approached by a guy named Nicholas who offered me his last cigarette in the pack (he had another pack in the car) and I accepted. We smoked and talked about a number of things. His subject matter ranged to the point were relaying it now would be pointless. I took it all as a positive though. The gist is that he was relocating to LA in a couple weeks, He's a recording engineer, He hadn't had a lady friend in some time but just got one last week. He was torn on leaving but feels it for the best. In leaving the extremely green PDX for the not so much LA and the DIY of Portland for the "Nouveau Riche" of Los Angeles he has some obstacles to encounter. I wish him luck in all regards and thanks for the smoke. I walked a few more blocks and came across Lille on her porch. I'd spoken with her before but she only sort of remembered me. That's ok because she is kind. She had a "strange day" and felt like the Lord brought me to her for a joyful conversation. She and her husband have been having problems. She inquired about my living situation (whether or not I lived alone) and told me that she hadn't lived alone in some time but circumstances with her husband may lead her in that direction. I hope things work out. She indirectly asked for my phone number. I'm not exactly sure why. She looks about 68.
I hope my car is ok.

I have had a hard time with my heart in the past few years and it sucks. I've not until recently REALLY been head over heels for someone. It's true. I am. At the same time it's tough because even though the feelings have been reciprocated there is a distance and if you go back to my previous journal and probably before that my easyjournal you will realize that I've been through this before and it scares me a little. I wish for a relationship that comes easy. I realize this is a pipe dream because most things worth having require work. At the same time I've seen people with what looks like smooth sailing love lives. Of course, I'm on the outside so I can see what goes on behind closed doors and I'm sure there are things going on behind those doors. I think the main thing in the opening stages of *LDR's or potential *LDR's is to maintain communication and that's been lacking in the past few weeks so that coupled with my fears have made it a little difficult. I also realize that it's not pertinent to force something so falling back is a stance that I've taken in the past and I'll resort to that and hope that the cards will fall in a favorable way. If they don't so it goes. I hope everyone else is ok.

Hi.
Last night I hit a few different art openings. Shannon Mayorga, a local curator, put on a show at Edge. The work was all made by tattoo artists and he mentioned this but I'll delve into this briefly, the levels of talent was apparent. Some of the artists work appeared to be well crafted and technically on point but some was way beyond "gallery artist industry standard" whatever you want to take that as. The point being it's interesting thinking of the reasons why some people get into tattooing. Whether it be the early 80's to current punk rock kids who just want to revolt and put statements of said revolt on skin with little to no art training or art school kids who can't find any other avenues to do art and make a living. That juxtaposition was interesting and although I was not interested in 80 percent of the work the idea of these two types and all between showing in the same venue is refreshing. Everyone gets a chance with art and that's whats so great.
Big Time Illustration
I then headed to coincidentally a Tattoo Studio (Skeleton Key) for BT's opening. I was thoroughly impressed at the work and the way it was done. The show was called "Connected" so all the pieces were unified and...connected. I took pictures so perhaps I'll post them for now go check his site I linked above.
I then drove over to Brian's place. He was having a group art show at his house called "Someone Let The Monkey's Out The Cage" (love it). It turned out really nice. Good conversation, great work and I sold a small piece so I came out on top...landed on my feet if you will. The response from my peers is always really good and basically that's who I am working for I suppose...I don't know. I walked over WorkSound for a bit to see the PNCA Masters Group show. There was some really nice stuff in there. I like that space a lot and the people that run it are top notch and on top of things. My kind of gallery!
I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn't mention the show at Sugar. It went well and I met some good people. The work fit the space (retail, vintage clothing store) much better than I anticipated and I think the store profited off of having my work in there and being open for business on First Thursday so I can't complain in the least. It was a good night of friends, new friends, art and beer. It's what I envision as an artist just perhaps as the years progress and my work gets better and more focused the venues will get better and money will start to flow a little better so I can monetarily justify (not that I NEED that) doing this.

music: computer hum and traffic
So I've been lax and my reason for not posting is completely unwarranted. I have not been busy making art as I have not worked on anything in close to a week. Sad but true. I've been around a computer mostly this whole time but I've been doing other things. Experiencing life if you will. The facts...
Last Thursday morning Joey and Pam made a visit to the fair city and that was a blast in a half, save having to work both Thursday and Friday. I went and picked them up from the airport not before I scooped Seth up (The Avett Brothers were playing that night at the Crystal Ballroom) from Burnside to surprise the two of them. I surprised them and we had a great drive from the airport to my place where I showed the three of them my habitat and surroundings on a brief walk up Hawthorne. I then had to get back to work for a couple hours. I got off and came home and changed and went and scooped the two of them back up and headed to MK Gallery for Amy Steele's thesis show on the PSU campus. Amy is attaining her masters degree and her thesis revolved around meeting dogs at the dog park and documenting their behavior and interaction with their owners and other dogs. An interesting show no doubt. We then traveled North to Burnside and to meet up with Levi and Alyson for dinner at Ringlers Pub. We had some interesting conversation and it was good to introduce the two of them to each other as we grew beards together for 4 months and it's only right. After dinner we went upstairs and partook in The Avett Brother's concert...definitely one of the best. The crowd was into it as was the boys and it felt like we were all on the same page, a huge celebration where no one stepped on anyone else's toes. It was great...and I met Jerry Glanville.
Friday after going to work for a full day basically I rushed home and got Joey and Pam and we traveled the boring non-scenic route up to Seattle. Blah. So boring but being with Joey and Pam made it better for sure. We toughed the 5 O'clock traffic and even indulged in a delicious truckstop dinner at Gee Cee's (I had the liver and onions) eventually arriving in Seattle at Neumo's at around 10:15 or so. Rachel and Lori joined us for a while but left because they were tired from exploring all day. The show was great albeit a little bunched in to Neumo's. We hung out with the guys for a little bit and then went and checked into our rooms and slept.
Saturday morning was an interesting one as we sat in the lobby and traded conversation with Scott, Seth, Joe, Jessica and whoever else came to our table for nearly 3 hours. What a way to spend a morning in Seattle at the Renton Hilton Garden Inn...I wouldn't have it any other way. Joey, Pam, Seth and I hopped in the car around 2 to grab some lunch. We went to the nice family restaurant called Claim Jumper. We had great service, great conversation and my meat loaf was delicious. We all four went to UNCC together so it's always good to get together and catch up. True friends never skip a beat. We headed back to the hotel where i switched off car passengers. Scott, David and Jessica Lea Mayfield joined me for a venture to Ballard. What a great little area. I'm hesitant to say hip but it was definitely favoring that vibe. I have no problem with that though. The shops were fresh and the people were "unique". I feel comfortable in that environment and I have to say that some of the other portions of Seattle that I've visited don't rub me right. I digress. We walked around and drove around Ballard for a few hours. I bumped into Tiny Vipers (Jesy Fortino) and bothered her for a photograph. I have no shame. We left that area and traveled back to Capital Hill to drop the guys off for sound check. I went and met back up with Joey and Pam at Moe Bar. Fellow beard contestant Will Hays and his roommate Lauren met up with us for a drink and then a walk to a really delicious Thai Restaurant. That was a treat. Then we headed back to the venue and enjoyed the Avetts yet again.
Sunday morning I woke up and spent some more lobby time with friends and then drove to Green Lake for dinner with Will, Rachel and Lauren at a place called Julia's that was absolutely delicious. After some more conversation and laughs I drove back to Portland not before I stopped at the Value Village for some Tacoma thrifting and the Michael's for some supplies.
So all in all it was an incredible weekend with friends and music. I left out a few things for time's sake. It's 5:34 AM and I think I'm gonna take Nolte for a walk and then do some painting before work. I'll also be uploading pictures to my flickr from the weekend today at work so look out for those. Hope everyone else is well.

Claire!
Mar. 27th, 2008 | 10:06 am
music: Dave Matthews Band

Though I am admittedly a little weirded out by the pumping breast milk and drinking it thing, Claire is my favorite from Cycle 10 of America's Next Top Model. Look at that face and posture...and complexion...and if you've seen the show listen to how she talks. Last nights episode was bad for her though. There was some really immature stuff going on in the house and I'd like to think that the ladies that I cosign would rise above that bullshit but you can't win them all I suppose. My girls never win but I'll root for her until the dreaded panel day comes and then I'll just watch and hate on all the rest of the girls and "Noted Fashion Photographer Nigel Barker".
So the work for my next show at Sugar Gallery is moving at a decent pace. I'm headed down to LA to see The Avett Brothers this weekend and also to hang out with some friends and beardos. I'm pretty excited about it. I haven't seen Nic Bowers in like a year and a half. I get to meet Oz Rodriguez, see Elizabeth and Chris Abell again and drink some beer. You can't top that. I'm working a half day today and then heading home to pack. Upon returning I will have a new roommate! Eventful weekend ahead.
Few other things I'm excited about is Liz Allen coming to visit in May and seeing MIA with her and Joey and Pam coming up in two weeks for the Avett Brothers yet again. I'm jazzed about a few things. There are still some lingering negatives but I/you can't let that stuff get to you. We only live once.
I love you all.

Nicole Atkins.
Feb. 29th, 2008 | 09:08 am
music: Turn It On - Flaming Lips
Nicole Atkins is a friend of mine from way back in my early UNCC days. We took a couple of painting classes together. She has always been the sweetest to me and was a good artist. To my surprise after leaving or shortly before graduating from UNC-Charlotte Seth Avett was to perform at this awesome old theater in Concord, North Carolina. I think I knew that Nicole made music at that point but had yet to hear her voice. I was blown away by the power and sincerity that came out of this girl. Equal parts proud to know her and just moved in general. I've loosely followed her career since then seeing her sporadically in Charlotte (she moved to Jersey, her hometown, after graduating). Two years ago her name popped up in Rolling Stone as an artist to watch out for in 2007 and google searches will fetch numerous Youtube videos and articles but I suggest the image searches (she's gorgeous). Anyways. Nicole is a great person. We had the chance to chat albeit briefly last month at Seth's wedding and I found out she was coming to Portland to play at the Doug Fir. That day is upon us and I will no doubt be there. I'm hoping to get a minute before the show to share a drink and a conversation but I understand the lifestyle of a professional musician can be tedious so I'll just take a 45 minute set and be happy if need be.These past few months have been busy, fun and have also afforded me the opportunity to stay above water a little more than I was use to in 2007. It's been a welcomed how do you do in 2008. I hope the momentum keeps going and I wanna take this time to thank everyone that has been a positive influence for me. I had a very difficult ending to last year and I also had a lot of people sacrifice their time and selves to friendship and it's appreciated. It's EXTREMELY appreciated. As these days go by quicker and these years flow by we have to "grab a hold to something" and try to slow it down before we miss it. I've made a number of mistakes in my life but I have always grabbed my friendships and tried my hardest to hold on to them as best as I can. I hope to continue to meet new people through art and in life. New inspirations and I hope I can do the same thing for those people. That's all.

Bryce Panic and Mirah
Jan. 19th, 2008 | 11:23 am
music: This Song - Grizzly Bear

Finally got to see Mirah perform last night. Although it wasn't her set and she just helped out on two songs it was still a pleasant two songs. Sallie invited me to a CD release for a fella she met while making copies at the Kinkos. His name was Bryce Panic and he was incredible. It was I guess you can say Nerdcore, as much as I hate the term his set was enjoyable. He reinvented songs by Tribe Called Quest, R. Kelly and others, performed originals and kept the crowd enthralled for 2 hours or so, a great feat in any venue. The show was Artistery which I had never been to. It's like a venue but also had a house party feeling with the low basement ceilings and the packed in hot crowd. There was a kitchen in the rear of the performance space with free cupcakes and self serve (out of a sink) water. It was a cool place and to top that off there was a dance party after Bryce Panics set. We didn't stay but for 30 minutes of that but it was nice to do a little dancing without my nerves holding me back as I knew not a soul there, aside for Sallie. Anyways. Good time.

Brad Renfro
Jan. 16th, 2008 | 08:33 am
music: Printer Hums
It's always bad to assume unless it's assuming that there is a mass murderer in the back seat of your car and you don't get in for that reason but I have to assume that Brad Renfro (Josh from Ghost World) died due to some drug complications. I assume the autopsy will be released at some point. Sad either way. I thought he was awesome in Apt Pupil and Bully.
So, I am back in Portland. It's nice. I haven't posted yet really because I'd been ultra busy. The first night I got home Destiny and I tuned into The Wire and then had a chat that went a little long but hopefully worth it...who knows. Then Monday day I went to work. We were a day out of trying to get the magazine done so it was fairly busy. Monday night I met a friend for a healthy chat at a bar and then came home and took a quick nap, woke up at 3am to complete a portfolio for Weiden+Kennedy. I'm not to pleased with it but I basically only had a day and 4 hours to do it with my vacation thrown in there. I think, though, combined with the meeting I had with the recruiter, my "strength" of character and meager portfolio may get me closer to the door there. We will see. Went to work on Tuesday and finished up the magazine and drove it to Journal Graphics. I scooped up one of the press operators because he wanted a ride to the bus stop. I decided to just take him to his destination since it was in SE too. He talked a lot about politics and ended by telling me to vote for Edwards or Obama. I was leaning towards either of those two anyways. I need to brush up on some of their stances and policies. Got home and watched American Idol with Lauren. I also worked on some paintings. I then hit the sack, woke up drove back to work and immediately began with this entry as it was incredibly past due.
Hope all is well everywhere else.

I feel pretty

During my 1 Hour lunch break I walked over to Target with the intentions of doing a little light Christmas Shopping for my Dad, Niece and Sister. Upon getting there I remembered there was a jacket that I saw for like 38 Dollars a few months back. I figured at this point it would either be on the sale rack or gone by now. I found the jacket, which is incredibly sweet and faux military, and also found a nice puffy vest. I bought them and to make myself feel a little less selfish bought the cat some treats and the dog some as well. You know, sometimes you gotta make yourself feel pretty. It's just the way I get down and shit.

Down South Sallie
Sunday afternoon I hung out with my friend Sallie. She is from Asheville so automatically gets some credits for being a North Carolinian. On top of that she is my upstairs neighbor and also has the most amazing voice. We went to Golden Touch Family Restaurant on Barbur for breakfast. I went there once before and noticed these amazing yellow padded booth seats and thought they'd be awesome for taking some snap shots in. Those should surface sooner than later. We had a delicious breakfast of Hashbrowns, Country Fried Steak, Two eggs over easy (Her) and 1/2 Order Biscuits and Gravy, Hashbrowns and One Egg Sunny Side Up (Me). After snapping some shots for myself and some Polaroids for her CD's that she will be selling tonight at Mississippi Pizza we headed south to Lake Oswego so that I could do some light XMas shopping and find some gloves because it's getting wet and cold in Portland. After that we headed back to PDX to help her do a little job hunting but we cut that short because of the weather. We did first go by Music Millenium where I let her pick my next CD purchase sight unseen for me. She listened to a band called Figurines in the listening station and prompted me to purchase it...and I did. Listened to it a few times and it is really a pleasing listen. Sort of poppy, psyche numbers with a twist. I headed back home and watched some Trading Spaces while I worked on a new painting then as I wrapped that up Sallie came back down to burn some CD's and put together her packages. I also started "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" which in opposition to what A LOT of my friends have told me was pretty good, especially considering the idea that it is based on a true story. I then packed up what I was working on and made my way to bed, not before I uploaded a whiskerino picture. All in all a productive and enjoyable wet Sunday in Portland.

Art Appreciation

music: Charlie Radio...they play everything (to a fault)

Nancy Chan
Some really great Sumi Ink Drawings/Paintings to be see at Nancy Chan's website. Very minimal approach to figures but detailed at the same time. It reminds me of an updated Robert Longo with a better sense of shadows, gray scale gradation and overall application. Don't get me wrong. I love those old Robert Longo drawings...

...though I remember being slightly put off when seeing them in person due to the lack of tactility in the pieces. They all felt so flat. The scale was still impressive but I was no more affected after seeing them in person as I am looking at installation photos on the internet. To her credit when I look at Nancy Chan's drawings I can feel myself trying to figure out what was going on before the moment was captured. Maybe I'm just cold to the Longo's work because they are older and I've been desensitized with seeing them so much. If you remember, they adorned the walls of Patrick Bateman's loft in film version of American Psycho and a simple Robert Longo image search on Google brings you numerous results. There are definite parallels in the two's work but I seem to relate more to the figures in Chan's pieces. That might (and probably does) have something to do with her choice of subjects. They look like people I see day to day as opposed to the Longo figures, a fictional "Downtown" community posed in awkward unnatural poses. Stunning but not relatable. The two artists stand on their own but when compared (like most things) favorites are picked and Nancy Chan's work does it for me. Check it out. There is also a nice interview with her up on Fecal Face.

Three things

music: Malajube - St Fortunat
Few things to cover. All positive.
First things first. Jenny and Erica will be here today and I am more than excited. They will be my firt visitors. Danielle was here but that is different. Jenny, Erica and I have a kinship. One of those unspoken appreciations for each other. Three peas in a pod. Three different colored peas that all taste the same. You know what I'm saying? A terrible analogy I know. Anyways. Jenny will be here in 2 hours and Erica tonight. I don't have huge plans but thats the thing. It's not necessary with them. We just have that type of relationship. Anyways. I'm excited.
For the past month or so...more focused in the last week, I've had an intense grind going on with my brakes. My pads were completely worn down so it was just straight up metal on metal. Digging valleys in the rotors and what have you. So about a week ago Andy "The God" Lavender told me that he is Subaru Certified (I have a honda but that doesn't matter much with brakes). So he volunteered to fix my brakes because it is fun for him to do shit like that. I was all about it because one, I didn't have to pay a tech 150 dollars and now I think I could do it myself with the right tools. So, thank you Andy. You are living legend in my eyes.
Went to First Thursday last night with Maggie. Met up with my co-worker/friend Nick Lewis. He brought a girl with him by the name of Tonya. She was Russian. Anyways. There was a fair amount of high quality things at the galleries and a lot of people were out to celebrate the winding down of construction in that area. They had a killer Ricky Powell exhibit at Upper Playground, some Andrew Hem work at Compound, Ashley Anson at the Life Gallery. Ian Anderson at Rake. Top notch art expedition if I must say so...and I must.
thats all.

Bill McRight/Fantastic Lurking
Bill graduated from Winthrop (Rock Hill SC), spent some time in NYC at grad school I believe and now resides in Philly. I remember seeing his tags on trains when I would hang out with my Ex Girlfriend in Rock Hill. Always been a fan. Glad to see him get some shine and a fancy website.
Erkut Terliksiz
Nice paintings. I like the drips and the gesture.
Went to the Oregon Coast this weekend. It was really pretty but also very cold. I tagged along with Destiny and her roommate Vanessa. Took my pooch. Here's a flick Vanessa snapped.

Pretty awesome, I know
Nothing else really.

Hott Moan

Went and saw Hot Fuzz on Saturday and was far from disappointed. It's more of a proper movie that was Shaun of the Dead. The comedy comes in how dead on they portray the Action/Buddy Comedy Genre. Some of the twists are so hilarious and the small town England setting for the movie is perfect. I think it's worth a cinema visit.

Also got a chance to check out Black Snake Moan at the Bagdad. I personally think the trailer does this movie no justice. I guess if they were going for shock value then it achieves that but the movie is far from a shock fest. It's a very poignant depiction of redemption and purpose set in the racially biased deep south. I thought all involved did a wonderful job namely Samuel Jackson and Christina Ricci portraying a reserved romance of appreciation that grows as the movie builds. I guess it's coming to DVD soon. I may buy it but I recommend that everyone at least rent it.
That's really all I got into worth a damn this weekend. I rewatched both Kill Bill's which was exciting as those movies upon further inspection are incredible. I did a little bit of painting icluding finishing off and shipping a commission to Preston Noe in VA. Realized that I have a hard time painting small. Did some responsible drinking. Now I'm back at work. This coming 4 day weekend will consist of looking for a new residence and looking for places to exhibit the stripper paintings. Thanks for reading.

I've landed a job. It's nothing to get pumped about. I work at a place called Premier Press, in the warehouse. I have a boss named Darrell who is a stickler about punctuality and likes to work long hours. I, on the other hand, prefer the "take it as it comes" approach to the work day. Luckily for him, and and more so for me, I am adaptable. Adaptable like the little girl from "Me and You and Everyone We Know". Today was good. It went by at a steady pace. I got home at 6:15 after getting a little turned around on the freeway. Came home to Nolte and Emily laying on the couch finishing up the aforementioned movie. She doesn't understand why it won so many awards. I don't really know why either, though I like it...I guess I just...like it. Sat around for a bit, actually I made some Guacamole. Unfortunately I have no Tortilla Chips. After I ate some white beans with Tomatoes, Green Peppers and Mushrooms I showered and went downtown for First Thursdays. I only went to a couple of galleries. I wanted to get home to look at Nolte and type this entry. Lyndsey should be home in the coming hours. It's Thirsty Thursday and she likes to drink on this night. I'll go with her. I might have a drink or two. I have to work in the morning.

Ok, so here's a more extensive update.
I am here in LA. I've been here since last night and it's pretty exciting.
The trip here went pretty well aside from getting a ticket in Winslowe, Arizona. Flat foot says I was speeding through a construction zone. 55 in a 35. I call bullshit because If I were going that fast I would know. I would see the orange cones, I would know if I were whizzing past cars and I wasn't. Sucks because I won't be able to go to Arizona and fight it. Eh. Money down the drain.
Another pitfall was the death of my cellphone. I'll save the details and leave this thought with you. Verizon is not the coolest place to have cellular service. I got a new phone and its cool and has an Mp3 player and camera phone and video and stuff...but as soon as my contract is up. Verizon, I'm through with you.
I'll have pictures and junk up next week as soon as I get settled in Portland. LA is beautiful and my hostess is as gracious as I assumed. Haven't done a lot of sight seeing as of yet but we hit a cool bar called Little Cave. It was nice. Good DJ, played Band of Bees, "Chicken Payback" just because and that makes me happy. Today we took Nolte to the Dog Park. He did well but was a little overwhelmed by the Yorkie and "Silky" that were running circles around him. It was cute to see my pup interact with a group dogs. Take away the butt sniffing and he did pretty well.
Me and Elizabeth really just spent the afternoon watching Movies (Owning Mahowny and Amelie) and watching bad cop dramas from the 70s and 80s. Good times. Going to a bar called The Bounty tonight. Thats about it I guess.

Safe in Nashville for all those that care. Next stop OKC.
The trip here went pretty smoothly. Had a heart wrenching conversation with my brother about vulnerability and family. Vulnerability in reference to seeing our father cry on two different occasions. One when his father died the other when his wife, our mom passed. I remember being downstairs. I was around six years old. There aren't a lot of things from that time that I remember vividly. I do remember hearing a whimper and creeping upstairs to see my mother holding my father as he weeped. Up until that point my dad was invincible. A quiet man untouched by much. Seeing that revealed another side to me. A side and image that has never left me. My brother told me for the first time about the night my mother passed. I knew she died at home but I didn't know my father was right by her side. My brother recalled seeing my dad shaken for one of the first times. Again, another instance of vulnerability. I'm babbling.
I'm doing well everyone. Leaving at sun up for Oklahoma City. 10 hours. Bye Ya'll.

Tuesday Morning. How is everyone? Last night I went by my brothers, to see him but more importantly to see my niece Amina. Playing with her made me a little sad. Not to the point of showing it but she asked me "why I was leaving?" and "will I ever come back?". The first question I toy with and feel like I have definitive reason for doing this and I end up at the point of assurance. I know I am doing the right thing. I just hope I can make my plans foster in a timely fashion. I feel fairly stagnant in most all aspects of living here, work, art, relationships etc. Aside from my family and close friends (which could be said to be all you need) I feel fairly disillusioned. I see a brand new and foreign environment as being an incredible kick start in the right direction. The time I spent, though brief, opened my eyes to a lot. I want to embrace all that I saw before I talk myself out of it. The second question ends with a definitive YES. I just don't know when. I hope I can have my art and design take off out there or if not that some sort of career. If it doesn't work out I'll go somewhere else or come home. Expect to see me again. I'm not done with Charlotte yet, afterall it is home.

Mackle Eades sent me the new Guillemots EP last night. Its entitled "Of the Night" and it's really good. I remember him sending me an album earlier this year and sort of setting it aside...I didn't really take to it. The new EP though, although only 4 songs in length covers a lot of ground and keeps my attention. I look forward to new material and maybe going back and checking out that first one and discoverings things missed.

The people that will soon be occupying the town/shit home that will destroy Anderson's Diner are filling it up to the brim and rolling out of there now. Gotta get those last kicks before they help bulldoze another Charlotte mainstay. I can't stay and watch it happen. You can have this city for now. I'll come back and get it when it's completely gentrified and unrecognizable to the born and bred.
Last night Danielle was in town from Atlanta. This was our first face to face meeting. She located me on Livejournal back when I was Drinkonthejob and I had David Salle as an interest. She did as well and dropped me a line informing me of that. We maintained contact via AIM and LJ. She coincidentally dated a friend/acquaintance of mine from here for a while, while he was in Atlanta. She is up here for some Barista training so she gave me a ring and we went to SKnet for Le Castle Vania who coincidentally is from ATL as well and plays at her coffee shop sometimes. We hung out outside with RTA for a while and then went to Elon's party which dissipated shortly after getting there. In our conversation it was obvious that we were of like minds and it wasn't weird in the least hanging out. It was as if we were old friends, because in some regards we are. I have no qualms about the internet as a source for friendship. With that stated I will continue. We went back to SKnet to wrap up the night and then headed back to my place with Elizabeth and Kyle in tow. Closed out the night here and then I went to bed. All in all a very nice and productive Friday night. Thanks for making it cool everybody.
I have a few things that I need to achieve today...so I will end this post like this. I want to meet physically everyone reading this right now. If I haven't already, lets set something up.
